The Bio-Computing and Drug Development Centre of the Adekunle Ajasin University

has claimed discovery of a cure for Lassa fever and Diabetes


The Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State Varsity made it known that it has discovered a drug that can cure Lassa fever and diabetes.



Dr. Posi Omotuyi, the Coordinator of the Centre, while speaking to journalist  revealed that the drug was sourced from local plants, possessing properties that could cure the diseases.



According to him, the Centre had commenced moves towards sending the research work to some virologists in the world that could test the drugs in laboratories that are globally accredited.



“I have reached out to a professor in Japan, he is one of the foremost virologists in the world, so that he can link us up with people who have facilities for laboratory and real cases testing of what we have discovered here.



“Our Unit is working on something which we are confident can cure Lassa fever; but until you test it, you cannot make categorical statement. Right now, our results have been very promising.



“We are already moving towards the point of talking to foremost virologists who can really test it in diseases condition in laboratories and see how it performs. We have reached out to them and the response has been very positive so far.” He said.



In addition, the director said the center was on another research work on the cure of prostrate cancer and also a research into a plant with anti-diabetes properties saying the result from the finding shall soon be made public.
